Cedar Rapids, Iowa (March 22, 2014) Three local Cedar Rapid bands put on a heck of a show at Otis’ Tailgators . Opening the night was Torchlight Parade, an alternative pop/rock band with a bit of an industrial sound. With Mike Jones on guitar & vocals, Jason Feight on drums, Nolan Dvorak on bass & backing vocals, and Kevin Smith on guitar, the foursome pumped up the crowd with some good, hard rock songs.
Next up was local favorites, the talented . Gabe Brown, a former American Idol contestant on vocals, Jeremy Jacobs tearing up the guitar, Joe Brown laying the ground work on bass, and Dan Russell pounding the skins, the classic rock influenced band kept the crowd pumped up for the duration of their set, mixing a few older songs in while further polishing some newer ones.
Last up was the power trio The Sound Thoughts. Formed by longtime friends Tim King, (lead guitar and vocals,) and Derek Anderson (drums,) the two saw various musicians come and go before John Seidl (bass) came along to help solidify their brand of high-energy rock. Though John had been ill for the past few days leading up to the show, the trio bounded through their set, jumping around and never missing a beat, adding to their fast growing rep as a band to catch on the local scene.
By the end of the night, the crowd was obviously happy with what they had just heard and seen.
