IOWA CITY, Iowa (April 2,2013) – The Mission Creek Festival brought to The Mill three incredible acts headlined by Thao and the Get Down Stay Down Tuesday night. Har-di-Har from Cedar Falls warmed up the packed house for Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside hailing from Portland who reminded us of the certain perfect beauty that can be found in dirty rockabilly and cheap beer before Sallie and guitarist Jeff Munger spilled off the stage onto the dining room table immediately in front of me! I knew then it was going to be one hell of a night. After the dust cleared from their set, the stage was set for Thao Nguyen and company to take us home with her folk infused, high energy indie-pop explosion of sound. After just a few minutes on stage, a quick scan of the folks around me found all eyes fixed forward hanging on her every word. I really don’t have the words tonight, I recommend simply hitting play in the box below featuring her album “We the Common” of which many songs were performed, and check out the photos!
