CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (August 5, 2014) — In what feels like some kind of creepy acid flashback, I found myself once again surrounded by four more 90’s bands that evidently must have had a pretty big impact on my college years. I found myself humming along more than a few times. The McGrath Amphitheatre in Cedar Rapids brought Spacehog, Eve 6, Soul Asylum, and Everclear to the banks of the Cedar River on a lazy summer Tuesday evening. Fun was had.
Just like the Under The Sun Tour a few weeks ago that featured Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors, Smash Mouth and Sugar Ray, memories were both pulled from years past and forged into new areas of my brain bits.
Personally, I thought it was a pretty solid show. I might have been one of the few that was most excited to see Spacehog. I can remember the day I first got their album Resident Alien. It’s first spin was in the back kitchen of a dive pizza joint I worked part time while at university. Good times.
Anyway, if you’re looking for a concert review, I’d suggest checking out Carly Weber’s review on Hoopla.
I took pictures. That’s what I do. Spacehog was impressive, lots of good emotion. Got some solid shots with Eve 6. The lighting was epic during the Soul Asylum set. Crowd shots were pretty fun during Everclear. I overshot, but narrowed it down to these for your viewing pleasure 😉
They look like this . . .
