Prior to Lenny Kravitz’s Guitar Hero version of “American Women,” the classic radio staple reached number one on the Billboard Top 100 in 1970 by The Guess Who.
On November 13, 2014 the former lead singer and keyboardist for the band successfully transformed the Paramount Theatre into a 70’s general admission show. Mr. Cummings and his band were like several whiffs of patchouli smoking numbers such as, “American Woman,” “No Time,” “Share the Land,” “Hand Me Down World,” “Undun,” “Laughing,” “Star Baby”, “New Mother Nature,” and “These Eyes.” Equal attention to detail was given to many of his solos songs. Burton Cummings approached each song with a brief commentary, oftn signalling the crowd to an on coming rocker.
Burton Cummings approached each song with a brief commentary. He often warned the crowd, “Now hear comes a rocker.”
As one of two shows of 2014 I attended, Burton Cummings was well worth the very long drought!
