Brian Setzer & George Thorogood at McGrath Amphitheater

By

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (June 10, 2015) – Rockabilly sensation Brian Setzer and blues rocker George Thorogood appeared together on a double bill at the McGrath Amphitheater in downtown Wednesday night. Setzer is most noted for forming and fronting the rockabilly bands the Tomcats later becoming the Stray Cats. He appeared on stage first with his infamous collection of Gretsch 6120 guitars, and damn can he make them sing. In my humble opinion, Setzer should have headlined the show, but I’m a rockabilly fan at heart.

I apologize for the sparse number of images of Setzer’s set. After pondering and ultimately giving in to a really shitty photo agreement which included Setzer’s management approval for any published images, I submitted 30ish images for review and only these 5 were accepted… I’ll make up for it with more shots of Thorogood and several of the crowd. Their loss really, I had some really good ones, including one that included his case of Gretsch awesomeness… Whatever.

George Thorogood and his Destroyers were awarded that headlining honor. He performed all his noteworthy hits from his 20 some albums (including 2 platinum) and the crowd seemed adequately pleased.

There was no media pit set up for either act, and all images had to be shot from behind the crowd, but i still feel we got decent coverage. Enjoy!
