“Bob started his 40+ year career in Iowa Public Broadcasting (radio and TV) when he did the first rock ‘n’ roll show EVAH on an Iowa Public Radio station Oct. 2, 1972. He was honored/recognized for those years by being inducted into the Iowa Rock’n’Roll Music Association’s Hall of Fame in Sept. of 2000 . ” Courtesy Iowa Public Radio

“Bob Dorr & The Blue Band started in Cedar Falls IA, in the early summer of 1981, simply as a way to satisfy the remaining contracted obligations of a band that had broken up in the spring of ’81. Over the Blue Band’s 30 year history, there have been many players that have made significant contributions to the band. The Blue Band has opened shows for B. B. King, Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Bobby Rush, Robert Cray, Roomful of Blues, Tower Of Power, Leon Russell, Duke Robillard, Maria Muldaur, Little Charlie & The Nightcats, Asleep At The Wheel and many others. Career highlights include a 25-year run at the Iowa State Fair, five appearances at the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival, and two appearances at the Kansas City Jazz & Blues Festival. The Blue Band has also appeared on the internationally distributed Beale St. Caravan radio show, produced by the Blues Foundation in Memphis.”  (Read more)
